Clubs and Activities

Throughout the year, students have the opportunity to participate in enrichment clubs during the school day. Teachers design and facilitate clubs based on their interests and expertise, offering students a wide variety of engaging options. Students select a club they are excited to explore, and four times throughout the year, they participate alongside other students in their grade level. Club offerings include STEM, art, LEGO, dance, volleyball, percussion, and many more, providing meaningful opportunities for creativity, collaboration, and exploration beyond the traditional classroom.

Girls on the Run:
Over a period of 10 weeks, girls in the 3rd through 5th grade can participate in an after-school program that is designed to allow every girl to recognize her inner strength. The objective of Girls on the Run is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident, using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively incorporates running. Our lessons focus on life skills such as being a friend, positively expressing your feelings, and using your “star power.” At the end of each three-month session, the girls participate in a Girls on the Run 5K event. This celebratory, non-competitive event is the culminating experience of the curriculum. Girls are selected for the program on a first come, first serve basis when a registration date is set.

Talented Art:
Talented Art is an elite group of student artists. Students are given a test in 3rd/4th grade, and based on their score, they may be asked to turn in a portfolio of artwork. Their art is evaluated and their combined scores will determine if they are invited to join Talented Art. The students meet once a week in the art room and get to work on special and more advanced projects. They also go on two field trips a year, one downtown to paint holiday windows and then one to the Suffolk Art Museum.

Talented Music:
Talented Music is a group of select 4th and 5th grade students. A test is given in the spring to identify students that meet these gifted criteria. This group meets once a week to learn the recorder, sing songs, and are taught about various aspects of music history and composers. Each spring, they perform with about 250 students from other schools at the evening STARS concert.
